This lovely little quilt started out life as a specially embroidered tablecloth made by Kris's mum for her daughter! It has been hidden away, kept safe & clean for many years! Kris saw my earlier quilted tablecloth & decided that it was time for her 'special' cloth to get some use as it should. We have chosen a lovely rose motif for the centre which has been trapuntoed. Organic style feathers are used in the first border along with other traditional feather designs. A very small stipple has enhanced the motifs so that they 'stand alone' as a feature. Mini Jumbuck Nu-wool batting was used along with Superior bottom line in the bottom and Rasant cotton wrapped polyester in the top. Matilda's O'sew soft was used for the trapunto batting in the centre.

This is Julie's red work quilt. She likes heavy quilting but not on any of the stitcheries. Julie is hand stitching within the stitchery blocks to assist in holding these areas. It has some quite dense echoing in the outer borders, around a flower & vine that is mimicking the appliqué. There is also small crosshatching in the smaller checkerboard red border around the centre stitcheries. A leafy vine fills the sashings in the centre & in the plain red border a rose, twirls and leaves filler has been stitched. Mini Jumbuck Nu-wool wadding has been used.

Audrey made this quilt in gorgeous fabrics and wanted it specially quilted to enhance it. We chose to McTavish the background fabrics and also to insert some extra flowers in the central motif to fill in the large background square on point. Combinations of Continuous curves created some different designs in the triangle borders. She was thrilled with the end result.

Julie's Whig Rose was designed jointly by Julie & myself & appliquéd & pieced by Julie. It has been chosen to be used as a project in Australian Quilter's Companion later in 2005. Julie is a perfectionist when it comes to her appliqué & piecing, so it is always a challenge to keep my quilting standard as high as possible. We chose to repeat the flower in the quilting by placing them where the blocks meet, therefore highlighting the secondary design. Heavy McTavishing on all the background gave this quilt a lot of movement. The five 1" borders have been ditched as well as a tiny pumpkin seed placed down the centre of the burgundy one using my 1 1/2" CC Triarc ruler. The final border was created using my 8" swag ruler to float the swags in the centre of this large border. Piano key lines were used on the outer edge to enhance the formality of the swags. McTavishing on the inside of the swags maintained the density of the quilting. I used all four depths of the swag template to achieve a double swag look, with tiny stippling in between to separate them. The swags were stitched in a slightly darker thread colour to the fabric. The McTavishing was done using Aurifil 50wt cotton in a slightly lighter colour than the fabric to create highlights where the thread is laid down denser.

Sometimes simplicity speaks volumes!! This subtly blended quilt of simple squares was enhanced by a Keryn Emmerson pantograph pattern called Double Plume. Less is best!!! (even though I am a 'more' quilting type person....)

This amazing quilt took over 3 years for the Golden Harvest Quilters Guild to complete - then they brought it to me! It was a scary, nervous time and I thoroughly scanned all of Darlene Epps, Pocket Guides for inspiration on all the different background texture quilting for this quilt. It was a very large & heavy quilt with lots of fabric manipulation and painting and 3-d leaves on it. All the leaves had been glued on & then I had to thread paint around them and many other items on this quilt. This quilt was donated to a local Telecentre that serves the community of the Yorke Peninsula in the South. They were thrilled with the end result!
